Michael Oakeshott (1901–1990) is considered one of the greatest minds in twentieth-century English political thought. He studied history at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in the early 1920s, and, after serving in the British Army between 1940 and 1945, he returned to Cambridge, eventually becoming Professor of Political Science at the London School of Economics in 1951. Fuller’s friendship with Oakeshott spanned many years, from 1974, when they first met in Colorado, until his death in 1990. According to Fuller, Oakeshott was an intellectual aristocrat. . . .
