Description: Offered is a group of medals produced from the Medallic Art Company. Richard Nixon: This is a mid-20th century inauguration medal for Richard Nixon’s first term with the name of the artist, “Ralph J. Menconi 1969,” and text “Richard Milhous Nixon” around the portrait. Menconi was a prominent artist at the time and hired by Nixon to design his 1969 Inauguration medal that then featured on the cover of Time Magazine’s January 24, 1969 issue. The bottom edge of the medal is engraved with “Medallic Art Co. NY. Bronze.” The Medallic Art Company claims the title of oldest private mint in the U.S. and has produced inaugural medals for several U.S. Presidents. The reverse depicts a version of the seal of the U.S. with the banner reading “E Pluribus Unum” on either side of the eagle’s head and the stars in a single rounded cloud over the eagle. “To RN - JN” is shown just below the seal. Acting as a border, the words “37th President of the United States of America Inaugurated January 20th 1969” are shown. Gerald Ford: This Vice Presidential inauguration medal for Gerald Ford features a portrait of the president facing right. At the bottom of the portrait, the name of the artist, “Mico K” is shown. Surrounding the portrait is “Gerald R. Ford Vice President of the United States.” The bottom edge of the medal is engraved with “Medallic Art Co. NY. Bronze” while the top is numbered “102.” The reverse depicts the seal of the U.S. Vice President with the capitol dome behind it. “First Vice President Under 25th Amendment Inaugurated December 6, 1973” is shown bordering the scene. Nelson Rockefeller: This Vice Presidential inauguration medal for Nelson Rockefeller features his portrait facing left. At the bottom of the portrait, the name of the artist, “Elisi V” is shown with the copyright 1975 to the right. Above the portrait is “Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller.” The bottom edge of the medal is engraved with “Medallic Art Co. Danbury, CT. Bronze” while the top is numbered “0036.” The reverse depicts an eagle perched on rocks and reads, “Inaugurated December 19, 1974 Vice President of the United States of America.”
