Description: Land and Sea. Having just listed more 500 year old fishing lures than anyone else on Ebay I thought I would mix it up with a few land based artifacts. Next to the knife, the adze was the most important utilitarian tool available to the ancient Alaskan hunter. This Slate blade may have been both and could easily be one of the earliest artifacts in Alaska, surviving the ravages of 1000s of Alaskan winters undiminished. It has a fairly large fuller running the length of the blade which really needs to be held to appreciate. Weighing in at almost a pound it is exceptionally large and may have been used to deliver final blows at close range.
