FROM THE PREFACE: Upon request of many people, some members and friends of All SaintsGuild of MaAlester, Oklahoma, have prepared this cook book. It containsoriginal and tested recipes of the late Mrs. Herbert Moore, a devotedchurch worker, famous for her party food. Mrs. Moore, (Mary to everyone) and her sister, Mrs. A. P. Harris, (Jude)established the Party House following World War II, after operating a small eating place during the war in a tiny building. It was then that people became acquainted with Mary Moore's fabulous food. Peoplestood in line to be served at their famous spot, "Park Inn." Mrs. Harriswas the business manager and hostess, while Mrs. Moore preparedthe food. Both women, with their personal charm, won hundreds of friends duringthis time from all over the country since McAlester was swarming withmilitary personnel. So, having made such a huge success of their first business venture, they decided to convert their home into the first Party House in McAlester. Here, midst heirlooms, pricelessantiques, glistening silver and lovely linens, they served the most beautiful parties McAlester has ever had; here bridal dinners, receptions,morning coffees, luncheons, club meetings and teas were held. It is hoped that these recipes will bring much pleasure and remind those who knew these two lovely ladies, of the many beautiful times they had at the old Party House.
