Description: For all of his renown in a range of spinto and dramatic tenor roles, Mario Del Monaco will forever be most remembered for his Otello. He first sang Verdi's tragic Moor of Venice at the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires in July of 1950. During the course of his thirty-five year career, Del Monaco performed Otello an amazing 427 times, and when he died in October of 1982 at the age of 67, Mario Del Monaco was interred in his Otello costume.
