Description: DESCRIPTION: LYLE TAYSON. PORTFOLIO OF SIGNED LITHOGRAPHS, FLEETWOOD GOLDEN JUBILEE, 1979. Lyle Tayson. Portfolio of Signed Lithographs from the Series, Fleetwood Golden Jubilee, 1979.c.1979, Fleetwood 52429F Introductory Plate:"On February 25, 1929, Harry Ioor began the Fleetwood story when he created his first First Day Cover at Vincennes, Indiana, for the new stamp marking the 150th Anniversary of George Rogers Clark's great Revolutionary War victory. Based in Indianapolis, Ioor had a simple idea: To make each new stamp's story come alive through historically accurate illustration and authoritative written text. When the First Day Cover with the Fleetwood hallmark appeared on June 1, 1942, at Frankfort, Kentucky, this basic idea remained unchanged. Just as it did for nearly twenty years while Fleetwood was headquartered in Pleasant-ville, New York, and has since 1968 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This commemorative marks Fleetwood's precise Golden Jubilee Day. And launches Fleetwood's second half-century as "The First Name in First Day Covers" among collectors who know. Nationally acclaimed for his ability to convey a powerful sense of drama, Lyle Tayson is well-known to Fleetwood Collectors for several outstanding collections -- including his monumental The Signers of the Constitution series -- and several individual First Day Covers, especially his moving and sentimental Photography cachet of 1978. When working with oils -- as he has done for this collection -- Lyle is at his best. Playing warm shadows with glowing amber and yellow lights, he seems like Rembrandt reborn, and brings to this collection the drama and the three-dimensional realism it so richly deserves. "The portfolio contains the Introductory Plate and 5 signed lithographic plates by Lyle Tayson on the topic of collecting first day covers: The First Collector; The Young Collector; Father and Daughter at the Auction. The First Day of Issue Sharing Dad's First Day Covers Each plate is on thick, textured, acid free paper (13.25 x 10.5"), protected by the acid free mylar sleeves of the portfolio, and signed by the artist in pencil. The images are each 9.75 x 8.5". Condition: Near mint, collectible condition, with only the slightest aging, barely visible at the open edge. Suitable for framing. The colors are vibrant and show no signs of fading, and the signatures are bold and unsmudged. The portfolio is in fine condition. Tayson's original paintings for these images would sell in the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Each of these signed prints, signed in Tayson's hand, should easily be worth the asking price for the set, and will undoubtedly increase in value. Check the scanned picture (Front & Back)!
