Lou Gold (Lewis Milton Goldwasser) (Born1885 – Died 1950 He was a composer, pianist and band leader immensely popular in New York City from the late 1910s to the early 1930s. From the mid 1920s through the early 1930s, he led bands mostly in studio recordings, using several pseudonyms for the different labels. He was a prolific recording artist and recorded for many record labels. These included Banner, Cameo, Crown, Pathe, Vocation and several others. His side men included some great jazz men of the 1920’s. Some that could be present on the 1925 recordings were Dave Klein: cornet, Red Nichols: trumpet, William McGill: trombone - alto sax, Clyde Doerr: alto sax, Jimmy Johnson: bass sax, Mike Berman: violin, Lou Gold: piano, Ralph Dexter: banjo, Sol Mathenson: drums, From about 1926 on his sidemen on recordings could include: Phil Hart: trumpet, Eddie Edwards: trombone, Benny Bonaccio: clarinet, alto sax, Al Roderman – clarinet, tenor sax, Henry Moss: violin, Lou Gold: piano, Gus Lazaro: banjo.
