"The Little Leather Library Corporation of New York was founded in 1915 by Albert Boni, Harry Scherman and Maxwell Sackheim. They were initially used as premiums in Whitman's Sampler. These small 4 inch by 3 inch books were perfect for what was to become one of the first attempts to mass-market inexpensive books in the United States....The first versions of the Little Leather Library volumes were bound in real leather." (from littleleatherlibrary.com). This book is covered with real tan calf leather. The titles are blind-stamped. This book was number 13 of the First 50 Titles by LLL. Accordingly, it is a 1st edition, thought to be published in 1916. (from littleleatherlibrary.com). It contains the transcripts of many of Abraham Lincoln's speeches and addresses. It is 96 pages long. There is no date stated in the book. There is no copyright. There is no Table of Contents. Both endpapers are dark gray. The top edge is gilded. It is a nice, historic, original, vintage, 1916 book in very good condition -- clean and well-bound.
