Description: Groove Cutter set to use with Portable Line Boring equipment Designed and manufactured in Chicago, IL by International Revere Machining (IRM)The set includes: 3 1/2" square tool holders for 1/4" square cutters5 springs with different strength3 hex wrenches1 screwdriver for pressing down the tool bits3 bolts for compressing the springs (you can use the bolts or the set screws for same purpose)2 cobalt cutters 1/4 x 1/4 x 2 1/2" (you can fabricate your own cutters)Set screwsO-rings Instructions:Depending on the diameter, choose one of the toolholdersDepending on the material hardness, choose one of the springsAssemble together the cutter, spring and screw (bolt or set screw, depending on the available space around the bore)Install on the shaft and bring it to the grooving positionPress in the tool bit with the screwdriver and lock it with the allen wrench.Bring the grooving tool to the position, release the set screw, turn the machine to observe how it is cutting, and, if not cutting, pressurize the spring from the bottom. Repeat until you get to the desirable depth. If the groove is too big, you can use the smaller tools first, and then use the one you need, so you can release some of the material.When you pull out the tool, be sure to press in and lock it out of the groove, so you can take it out without breaking the tool bit. SAFETY: When the Cutter is out of the cutting position: never point the loaded Cutter against face/body - RELEASE the tension on the spring BEFORE you release the tool bit.
