Description: This is a Cabinet Card, which was a popular photo format in the 1880s. They were first used in the 1860s for landscape views, eventually adapted to portraits, and had greatly declined by the 1890s. This came from an older woman who lives in Portland, Oregon. She said the man in the middle was her grandfather and that this photo was either taken in Oregon or Utah. He was a gambler and traveled around a lot, evading debts. I don't know any names. Standard-size card, measuring about 4.25 x 6.5 inches.
