Description: CONDITION OF THE BOOK AND DUST JACKET ARE AT LEAST "GOOD PLUS". Please note that many of the copies of the books out there are softcover, even if their photo is a hardcover image. Most of the time a "first edition" would be the most interesting, but the first edition of this book was written at the perfectly wrong time, published in 1969 and many of Rock's greatest performers showed up between 1968-1977. The first edition would not cover them and this revised copy does. THE DUST JACKET IS COMPLETE AND IN A PROTECTIVE BRODART SLEEVE. THERE ARE HANDLING CREASES, AGE RELATED PAPER TONING WITH EDGE WEAR AT BOTH THE TOP AND BOTTOM AND A FEW INTERIOR TAPE REPAIRS TO THE INTERIOR EDGES. SOME LIGHT SOILING TO REAR PANEL OF JACKET WHICH IS WELL OVER 99% INTACT. THE BOOK IS ALSO A STRONG GOOD PLUS. THERE IS SOILING TO THE EXPOSED PAGE EDGES, WITH SOME MINOR DUST AND SURFACE WEAR TO THE PLUM COLORED BOARDS. I FOUND ONE SMALL CORNER CREASE ON PAGE 31 (PHOTO 12). I FOUND WRITING ON THE REAR PASTE DOWN (PHOTO 13) THAT IS SORT OF INTERESTING. NO OTHER WRITING, NO TEARS AND NO OTHER CREASES NOTED. THERE IS OCCASIONAL LIGHT INTERNAL SOILING MARKS AND LIGHT HANDLING MARKS. THE TWO PAGES OF "THE GRATEFUL DEAD" HAVE SOILING FROM WHAT WOULD APPEAR TO BE SOME SLOPPY EATING WHILE READING (PHOTO 14). THIS IS NOT A BOOK CLUB COPY AND IT IS WELL MAINTAINED DESPITE MY CONSERVATIVE GRADING.Other than the soiling shown in (PHOTO 14) the biggest issue from my perspective is that the exterior exposed page edges have gotten a bit soiled over time. Regarding the name on the rear paste down that states "from Leonard Whitcup 5-1-79", Whitcup was a well known musician who lived in New York with hundreds of credits including the likes of James Brown. The prior owner of this book was named George Christ. He was a harmonica player for a rock band JF Murphy and the Salt. The problem is the date as Leonard Whitcup died a couple of weeks prior to the date written on the book. It doesn't impact the value of the book either way but if there is a story, most people want to know it. PLEASE USE ZOOM FUNCTION ON ALL PHOTOS AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. All international shipping is handled by ebay and I do not have any input on cost. harmonica-dd
