Lesney Matchbox Original Empty D2 Box for 73b Ferrari 156 F1 Racing Car EXC

Description: Original type D2 Matchbox by Lesney box for the 73b Ferrari 156 F1 Racing Car, Both sides blue variation. The 73a model was issued in 1962 and deleted in 1967. This D2 box is likely produced in sometime in 1963. These D2 type boxes were produced for Lesney by either Pembroke- Abbey or Bowater- Scott printers. This box is a Bowater & Scott example (see logo on an inner tab, the arial font on the end flaps, and the lack of serifs on the numbers). The D2 boxes were made for only a relatively brief time and are coveted by collectors, especially in this beautiful condition.
