Description: Description: An early etching by Leonard Baskin (1922-2000) from a series of artist portraits executed early in his career. This one is of Flemish Mannerist artist Hans Bol (1534-1593). It was produced in 1962, in an edition of 50. It's not included in Fern & O'Sullivan for some reason, examples are held in a number of major museum collections, including the National Gallery of Art (Washington), The Cleveland Art Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Signed lower right, numbered lower left in pencil, by the artist. It's framed in a high-quality welded aluminum frame, with a silk-covered mat, dating from the 1970s. Size: Sheet is 13" X 20.125", plate is 7.25" X 8.25" Frame is 17.75" X 20.75" Condition: Slight mat shadow around the image, sheet has been folded and taped at the bottom. Tape hinges at the top edge of the reverse of the sheet, tape along edges of reverse of sheet, evidence that it has been previously hinged/mounted. Small dampstain to mat at lower right corner.
