The Abbey Theatre (also known as the National Theatre of Ireland) was the first state-subsidized theatre in the English speaking world. This was the third of three American tours that the Abbey Players took in the 1930's. The flyer promotes the Lennox Robinson comedy "THE FAR OFF HILLS" (47 performances beginning October 11th, 1937). The current engagement also included performances of the the J. M. Synge classic "THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD" (nine performances beginning November 20th, 1937) and the Frank O'Connor play "IN THE TRAIN" (nine performances beginning November 20th, 1937).
