Unbeknownst to Cat, Gwendolyn is trying to kill him by consistently burning matches. However Cat calls upon Chrestromancie, a powerful sorcerer who must appear every time he is called. So this is a painting of Cat, the main protagonist. There is a large purple stripe wrapping around Cat which is a physical manifestation of the magic swirling around him. The birds fluttering around him are some symbols of Cat’s nine lives. The title references my series of male portraits based on men who are struggling to win in life against all odds, fighting hard with grit and gumption known as Sisu, the Finnish word for those characteristics.
