Description: This is a colorful piece of handmade folk art by Irene Aguilar (sister of the well-known Josefina Aguilar). Both sisters are featured in the book "Oaxacan Ceramics" by Lois Wasserberg. This figurine depicts a market woman (or vendor) carrying a chicken and balancing a basket of calla lillies on her head. It stands a full 16" tall and is in very good condition. The paint has rubbed off on a very small spot on the front of her dress (visible in the gallery photo), and a little has rubbed off one earring. Otherwise in excellent condition! Signed by the artist. From a nonsmoking home. Examine the gallery photos. Please ask any questions, as all sales are final. Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and handling. Will be packed carefully to ensure safe arrival. See my other listings for additional pieces by the Aguilar sisters!
