Description: A charming Russian lacquer box from the village of Fedoskino. The painting depicts a traditional Russian scene of a pair of Troika sleighs being driven hard, racing through the snow covered Russian village. The colors are bold and bright. The windows of the houses are skillfully done in gold giving them a “glow” as if lighted. It is signed in Cyrillic on the lower left with village name “Fedoskino” and the date “1995”, and on the lower right with the artist's signature “Turchin S.”. The box measures approximately 8 inches long, 5 1/2 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches tall. When opened, it has the distinct odor of linseed oil, an indicator of genuine Russian lacquer boxes. The painting is in excellent condition with bright, vibrant colors. There is a small crack on the edge in front of the lead Troika horses (see photo). There area few tiny chips along the base.
