Description: Large Antique Victorian Wall Tapestry, Stories of Romulus & Remus 9'4" x 10'2" Large Antique Victorian Wall Tapestry, Stories of Romulus & Remus 9'4" x 10'2" Up for sale is this fabulous and giant antique hanging wall tapestry. This tapestry is after the original and depicts The Series of Stories of Romulus and Remus. The various scenes depict panels of the Youth of Romulus and Remus; Numitor Returns to the Alba Longa; and The Presentation of Hersula to Romulus. The large woven tapestry has a dark green velvet boarder with a double banded gold rippon. The colors have faded on the main image, as is typical with antique tapestries - the first colors to fade are the yellows and greens, but the blues and reds are still vibrant. We tried to capture the colors as best we can from a camera but the colors might be slightly different in real life. This LARGE wall hanging measures 9'4" wide and 10'2'' across. It is a real show stopper and the age and skill is obvious. Looks to be Renaissance Flemish in style with a classic processional imagery. Defiantly dates over 100 years old, but unfortunately we don't have much information on the provenance. In very good antique condition - no large tears or rips, some minimal fraying to the edges and as mentioned faded colors and loss to the color saturation.
