Description: French Line: A large (39" by 42") First Class deck plan dated 1930 for the ILE DE FRANCE. Seven color-coded decks are shown, from the Cafe Terrace perched up high on Sun Deck down to the lesser First Class cabins on Deck D. I've booked the only "Suite de Grand Luxe" onboard but it has three bedrooms with private baths along with a Dining Room, Sitting Room, Office, a large foyer, and an extra little cabin for the kiddies. If you are nice, perhaps you can stay in one of the extra bedrooms. There are eight mere "Suites de Luxe" available too. On Boat Deck overlooking the bow there's a gymnasium, complete with two rowing skiffs with dual sets of oars. One person rows and the other barks out commands? Also, be sure to check out the Smoking Room at the aft of Promenade Deck. That space was redone multiple times between 1927 and 1939, and then again after the war. I've forgotten which version was onboard in 1930. Then there is the famed First Class Dining Salon down on Deck C. The Grand Descent looks steep so hang onto the railing please. Also, bring sunglasses as the room is brilliantly lit with reflective white marble walls. But I'll take my dinners in the private dining salon of my Suite de Grand Luxe. After a hearty meal, the stylish but narrow dining salon room chairs are not going to release my, ah, "Yankee-sized" body. I know as I've sat in one. Good condition with several tape repairs.
