Among the many traditional crafts in Okinawa it is a new craft with a short history. It began to be mass-produced shortly after the war when it began to be made for American soldiers stationed in Okinawa. The colorful Ryukyu glass that continues to this day is said to have been born from recycling empty soft drink bottles discarded by American soldiers who occupied Okinawa at the time. >>The development of Ryukyu glass<< Due to the historical background of the American military continuing to station Ryukyu glass after the war it has developed significantly. At that time the main raw material for Ryukyu glass was recycled glass. The glassblowing process in molding must be completed before it cools down completely. The glass heated by a flame that reaches up to 1400 degrees melts into a sludgy liquid and moves constantly like a living thing. The work which requires constant attention for even a moment is hotter than you can imagine.
