Description: Historical 5.5X8 official German document from July 11, 1942 giving Hilmert Puvogel a first class medal signed in dark bold blue fountain pen ink by Karl von Graffen. In very good condition accompanied with a photograph of him. (1893–1964) Karl von Graffen was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Karl von Graffen was taken prisoner in May 1945 by British troops and was released in March 1948.
