Jugendstil Signed Erhard & Sohne Germany Art Nouveau Brass Inlay Wood Box

Description: A fabulous and rare-shaped German Jugendstil Art Nouveau brass inlaid box by Erhard & Sohne. Rich wood with gorgeous patina and markings has extensive brass inlay in typical motifs to the Art Nouveau/Jugendstil movement. Measurements and condition opinion: Measures approx. 4-1/2” x 2-1/2” and is in good antique condition. Some wood dryness over the years has resulted in some minor cracking on the lid, the brass exhibits some overall tarnish... There are areas where wood inlay has gone missing due to age, as shown. The piece has not been cleaned and retains its patina as found. The outer rim of the actual box seems to be a bit off center; it rests just above the upper points of the legs with just the smallest difference of space. Hardly noticeable but mentioned for disclosure; see photos. The bottom looks to have markings from a previous cleaning attempt. Marks: The Erhard and Sohne mark along with “Germany” are stamped into the brass on the bottom.
