Description: John Markwood (1930-1988) was born in Cumberland, Maryland and lived most of his adult life in Southern California. This amazing painting of a forest landscape was executed using a combination of Pointillism & realism technique. Pointillism requires hand stippling many thousands of dots of paint next to each other. When viewed up close, the paintings appear as an abstract mass of colored dots but when viewed from a short distance the eye mixes the colors and picture comes into focus. Pointillism became famous by the French post-Impressionist artist Georges Pierre Seurat. Signed on the back “Pine Ridge Mountain” Oil on Canvas 18 x 24” Measures - 27.5” wide x 33.5” high Condition is good, some wear on the frame.
