Military exercise "Freedom 71" - Maneuvers "Freedom 71"- FieldIt was a military maneuver on the territory of the SFR Yugoslavia in October 1971. JNA, Territorial Defense and Civil Defense participated, and the goal was to exercise coordination and test new command structures within the framework of General Defense and Social Self-Defense.All branches were included: infantry, aviation, artillery as well as the local population. 580 tanks as well as 45000 soldiers and 850 paratroopers were used.President Josip Broz Tito personally attended.Since the 4th of the 9. November 1971 maneuvers "Freedom 71" were held this year. In this maneuver, in which the concept of general-defense was checked in practice for the first time, comrade Tito directly participated in handling the exercise.He visited almost all places where maneuvering took place, and he also used these visits to exchange opinions with socio-political workers and the population of certain municipal centers and villages in the Karlovac region.During his five-day stay, comrade Tito visited Dreznik Grad, Slunj, Rakovica, Plitvice lakes, and his permanent place of residence was in the old town Dubovac in Karlovac.At the end of the maneuver, comrade Tito attended a military parade of participants in the maneuver and spoke at a large rally held on Vunski field.
