Description: Je Suis Ein Americano, Signed with correctionsTim DlugosChapbook, First EditionFine softcoverLittle Caesar Press, 1979Poetry Description: Scarce early chapbook by Tim Dlugos, the former Christian Brother turned poet and activist. Dlugos became associated first with the Mass Transit poetry scene in Washington DC, then with the Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church in NYC with Joe Brainard and Eileen Myles; he died at age 40 from AIDS. This 36 page chapbook from Dennis Cooper’s Little Caesar Press, with cover photograph of Dlugos by Richard Elovich and with blurbs by Edmund White and Marjorie Perloff; unknown press run. $2 price on back cover. Includes 20 poems, some of which are prose poems. In addition to signing this copy, the poet made pen corrections of the text on page 18 (replacing “to” with “from”) and on page 30 (overwriting the word “light”). His 2011 posthumous collection, The Fast Life: The Collected Poems of Tim Dlugos, edited by friend David Trinidad, received a Lambda Literary Award.
