Description: Japanese ANEMONE - Wind flower Robustissima Deer Resistant Fall blooming perennial zone 5-9 **---- Mounting Perennial **---- Fall bloomer **---- Pink blooms **---- Deer resistant **---- Extends the blooming season **---- minimum water after established Robustissima has Soft pink single, cup-shaped flowers float above attractive deep green foliage. The most adaptable of the Japanese Anemone. From late summer to fall, there is no flower quite like it in the border for providing late season color. The hardiest to zone 4 and the most tolerant of sun and drier conditions. Anemone grows quite tall during the summer (2+ feet) and has glowing pink blooms in the fall. Nothing shows up at night like these blooms. It is very hardy and will grow in the shade, partial shade on well drained soil. The plant has big leaves and each plant will grow into about 2+ feet tall and wide. In fall it sends out spikes with clusters of blooms when everything in the garden is done blooming. It is very good in Mass planting or in back borders. This plant will spread thru root system. The established plant will seed it self if the stock is not cut during fall. After blooms drops the petal I leave the stocks with seed pod for birds for winter. Early spring I remove the stocks with dead leaves and even if you did not the plants big leaves grows around and uses the dead leaves as mulch. Once established It is an excellent low-maintenance plant. I have them over 20+ years. I have replanted in different areas in our house. Once established the plant will forms a big clump of 2 feet in two years. Best part no weed can grow any where under and around the plant since the leaves are pretty big. Select your location and plant them so they can grow and get settled during spring and bloom for this fall. Water well until established. Anemone benefit from a general purpose fertilizer or compost in late fall to late winter. NOTE:THIS PLANT is extremely drought tolerant but does not like moving. EITHER HAVE TO BE PLANTED AS ROOT OR GROWN IN POT AND PLANTED WITH ROOT BALL. WHEN GET MOVED ALL THE LEAVES WILL DIE AND PLANT WILL GROW BACK SET OF NEW LEAVES. Notes: Container: when you receive the plants PLEASE PLANT THE ROOT BALL. DO NOT SEPARATE SEEDLINGS. Garden care: Cut back the stalks after the flowers have faded. Tidy up old dead leaves in March. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring. Avoid moving during LATE summer. Where necessary lift and divide congested clumps in early spring. ON IDEAL CONDITION THIS PLANT WILL SEED IT SELF AFTER FEW YEARS - TO PREVENT THIS I CUT THE SEED PODS LATE FALL AND PILE THEM IN A CORNER OUTDOOR, SO BIRDS CAN EAT THE SEEDS DURING WINTER.
