Description: Signature of Sir James Brooke, the first of the white Rajahs of Sarawak, on bottom of a letter black-bordered letter fragment. Notation in pen of 'Rajah Brooke' by collector written beside it. Faint pencil note on back dates this to November 7, 1851. Likely collected by Henry Danby Seymour, who toured eastern Russian and the Far East at this time and was a relative of the collector of these autographs. Slip measures 7" x 2.25".
