Description: Tropical pith helmet - 128th CCNN Blackshirts Assault Legion (Vercelli) - 1st February Division - nominative.Conditions as per photo (excellent). "The 28th Blackshirt Assault Legion "Giovanni RANDACCIO" was based in Vercelli, in the first territorial zone of the MVSN which corresponded to Piedmont. It included three cohorts, in addition to those detached to Cigliano and Biella. Mobilized in 1935, the Legion, like most of those employed in East Africa, added the number 100 to its numbering becoming the 128th Blackshirt Legion, composed of its own CXXVIII battalion and the CXXIX of Pallanza. Remobilized in 1939 as the 28th, it was assigned to the "Cagliari" infantry division before being transferred to Albania at the beginning of 1941 and then entered the "Diamanti" grouping which, in April, took part in the operations against Yugoslavia. Reduced to only the XXVIII battalion in the spring of 1941, the Legion was deployed in Greece with occupation duties until the surrender in September 1943."
