Description: Very nice copy of the rare original 1950 pressing of Isaac Stern and Alexander Zakin playing the Mozart Concerto in G Major and Beethoven's Sonata no. 7 for violin and piano, on Columbia Masterworks LP ML-4326. Rare original pressing with blue labels and very thick vinyl. This is considered to be one of Stern's all-time great recordings and is one of the few pre-stereo records to have been reissued many times as a classic recording. But this is the original issue. The disc does have some scuffs and light marks but it plays quite beautifully, loud and clear with a bit of background noise, mostly not so noticeable but definitely there. The Mozart side has much larger and louder music so the noise isn't so noticeable most of the time. Anyhow these discs always have some noise, even when they are mint. The vinyl is essentially the same as for 78 records, and they just hadn't learned to make records play quietly yet. Anyhow this one is quite nice, in way better shape than nearly any other copy I have seen. The cover is also quite nice, with a striking and clean image, except for a bit of writing. A seam split goes across slightly more than half the bottom edge but none on the top or the spine. Overall a beautiful original copy of this rare classic.
