Description: Increased Value Capacitor assemblies to replace Capacitor Technologies' 50/80 V dual capacitors in CARVER M-1.5, M-1.5T, PM-1.5 and PM-1200 amplifiers. These assemblies have been custom designed for Carver M-1.5 series amplifiers, and feature low ESR design, long life, compact size and precision-aligned pins for high performance and ease of installation. For increased lifetime, the assemblies use increased voltage capacitors. For improved performance, the value of the low rail capacitors has been increased by over 100% (to 4,700 uF) for improved clarity and bass response. Larger value capacitors became a standard on Carver M-4.0 and TFM-45 amps--later versions based on the Carver M-1.5 design. Each assembly replaces 2 original dual capacitors--only one assembly is needed for a M-1.5, M-1.5T, PM-1.5 or PM-1200 amplifier. High quality custom PCB made from two sided FR-4 material. High quality capacitors are used in the assemblies. They are rated at 50 and 100 Volts (operating at 42V and 75V), meaning that they will be operating well below their limits. This results in significantly improved lifetimes for the parts. The capacitance value of the 50V replacement capacitors has been increased by over 100% for increased power, improved clarity and better bass response. Compact design fits footprint of original parts--no additional wiring or component mounting is required! New feature! The assembly has clearly marked test points to probe each supply voltage (+/- 42V and +/- 75V). This makes it more convenient for adjusting the supplies and verifying operation. Mounting pins are precision-aligned so assembly slides right into M-1.5, M-1.5T and PM-1.5 power supply board capacitor holes. Fits the Carver PM-1.5 and PM-1200 amplifiers with no modification. The original Capacitor Technologies' 50/80 V capacitors tend to be very failure-prone--the Achille's heel of an otherwise superb amplifier. A bad filter cap can cause a low- to mid- frequency hum or distortion in the outputs. A failed capacitor can also put the amp in protection mode. Generally, a bad filter cap will affect both channels equally. Many people replace the Capacitor Technolgies' parts as a preventative measure. The assemblies are brand new and will be shipped in protective packaging. The listing is for the capacitor assemblies only, not the complete amplifier. The capacitors can be replaced by a person with intermediate to advanced soldering skills. A soldering iron, solder wick and solder are needed to replace the part. When you're done soldering, wash your hands because solder contains lead. Please note that replacing the capacitors will fix the amplifier only if the capacitors were the problem to start with! STRONG WARNING!!! Carver amplifiers have high voltages of 120 VAC and +/- 125 VDC present during operation. They have capacitors that can store potentially deadly charges for over one minute after power is disconnected from the amplifier. Repairs to be made by qualified service personnel.
