Description: THE HUSSITE WARS BY: COUNT LUTZOW SCARCE - 1914 EDITION - J. M. DENT & SONS Inscribed by the author's widow. Scarce and important book written in English on the Hussite Wars One of the more important and least studied war periods in European History. Frontispiece Illustration of Jan Zizka and a fold-out map of Bohemia at end of book. I have read many books on the Hussite wars (in the Czech and English language) and for English readers, this is the best that I have read - rivaled only by Frederic Heymann's scarce volume titled: Jan Zizka and the Hussite Revolution. This book will make readers reconsider what they know about the beginning of the Protestant Reformation and how it came about. It tells an amazing and shocking tale of the death of the "Heretic" John Huss and how the Hussites thereafter defeated several European/Catholic/German crusades launched against them and brought about the first Protestant Reformation. In our modern age, histories are being re-written and this gem of a book does just that. Good - Usual reasonable wear, bumps, spots. All pages present and book binding is solid except the front board is a bit loose. No attachments, one area of pencil underlining as pictured, no other writing or marks, blue boards are less blue than the pictures would suggest, map has slight tear in it, signed by the autor's widow. Great reading... 371 Pages - written in English - with Index
