Description: This is a reissue of the orignal Cartech book from 2004 that is selling for big $$ here on ebay. BOP Engineering sold the majority of the original books and has now been tasked to exclusively distribute the new updated version. Buy with confidence from the company that has supplied the industry with high end Pontiac parts for over 25 years. The Original BookJim Hand’s first book, How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s, was published from 2003 till about 2012 by CarTech (North Branch, Minnesota in the United States of America). It was one of the first “entirely digital” books published by CarTech and its content was to be photographed in black and white. Digital camera technology rapidly advanced and late in the book’s distribution life, CarTech considered rereleasing the book, although this time in full color. Unfortunately, as originally requested, there were no color digital images. Therefore, there was no way to redo the original book. The Second BookRocky Rotella, a well-known Pontiac enthusiast, builder, writer and historian, was able to provide text and photos to enable CarTech to offer an updated and different version of this book under the same name, How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s. Rocky’s book was first released in late 2012 and is currently (September 2022) offered in CarTech’s “print on demand” series. .A New Version of the Original BookShortly after discontinuing the original version of the How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s in 2012, a limited but consistent demand for it started to appear. Because the information was released in 2002, some of it has been considered dated, many of the manufacturers listed had changed, merged, and/or disappeared, and some parts mentioned were getting hard to find. However, the technical information was and is still very applicable. Discussions took place with CarTech in 2021 and they very graciously allowed Jim Hand (the copyright owner) to have the rights to the original book’s content. With this, we were permitted to release the original information and photos in another book and under another title (so as to not confuse buyers of the current CarTech catalog of books). Changes to this New VersionLike digital photography, publishing has drastically changed. An American publisher, Gray Dog Press (Spokane, Washington) was a perfect candidate to release the new version. Gray Dog Press is a book production company and an independent small press that does short run book production for independent publishers, corporations, universities and self-publishing authors. Because of the expected smaller demand for this new version of the How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s, Gray Dog Press was perfectly suited. The original CarTech book sold thousands of copies and the information presented in it was well received. For this reason, no information was intentionally changed or updated. All of the recommendations and manufacturer’s names and part specifications were left as listed. In all cases where photo rights were owned, the original photos were reused. There were a few grammatical and punctuation changes made to correct minor errors identified from original publishing oversights. There is some technical information added about the 1971 LeMans Wagon and various QR codes are spread throughout the new version to enable a smart phone to be used to hear the car and its engine, listen to its exhaust, and see it running at the KCIR strip
