Description: This 1940 first edition hardcover book, titled "How Green Was My Valley" by Richard Llewellyn, is a rare find for any literature enthusiast. The basis for the 1941 film by the same name directed by John Ford, a movie on the list of all time classics, the classic tale of a Victorian Welsh mining family, covering their struggles, relationships, loves and triumphs and heart aches. Giving great cultural insight as to the times and settings of this story. Though not an expert, I would rate the condition of this book very good. Some small chipping (fraying) at top and bottom of spine, visible in photos. Gilt print of title, author and publisher on spine easily visible and easily read. Some fading of dark blue color on spine, brighter on front and back. Light marking and scratching on cover. Forward corners good. Binding intact. Overall, very good condition for it's age. A few pages bent at the very point. Moderate yellowing, but no staining of any liquid or marking of any kind. Will be packaged and shipped with care. Thanks.
