Description: 1,500 CE or earlier. This example of Hohokam pottery comes from the Casa Grande region in Arizona. Its original glaze or paint has been reduced during its estimated 500 year lifespan. All indications that it was traditionally fired with a flat bottom. Some experts and oral tradition suggests that the Hohokam societies are ancestors of the Papago (Tohono O'odham) and Pima peoples of Arizona. They would have neighbored the ancestral Pueblo peoples of modern New Mexico. This bowl measures approximately 3 1/2 inches tall, and about 7 1/4 inches in diameter.
