This railroad is one of Colorado's iconic standard gauge railroads along side of D&RGW, Denver & Salt Lake, and Colorado Southern. The Colorado Midland railroad ran between Colorado Springs and the gold mine towns of the greater Cripple Creek area, and the railroad had one of the most beautiful rock roundhouses ever built (it had 14 stalls, and still stands today, being utilized as a one of a kind shopping mall - see pictures!). This is one of those wonderful to model Colorado railroads due to the era, the gold, the roundhouse, mountain passes, etc., which allows it to stand in as a standard gauge version of Colorado's narrow gauge mining railroads. Also, for those of you who are interested in a steel mill, moving coal, etc., the Colorado Midland heavily serviced the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company (CF&I) out of Pueblo Colorado (this facility still stands today!).
