Description: This is a custom 12" figure of one of my favorite fictional detectives, Hercule Poirot. Hercule Poirot was the creation of author Agatha Christie. Poirot is of Belgium descent, a fastidious dresser, very punctual, and "probably the greatest detective in the world." Agatha Christie drew inspiration for her character from multiple sources, among which was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective, Sherlock Holmes. Poirot first appeared in The Mysterious Affair at Styles, published in 1920. Hercule Poirot is one of Agatha Christie's most beloved characters and appeared in 33 novels, over 50 short stories, and one play published between 1920 and 1975. Poirot has also been portrayed on radio, television, and movies by various actors over the years. Actor Charles Laughton first portrayed Poirot in the play Alibi in 1928. The play was an adaptation of the Christie novel, "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". Poirot has also been portrayed by Albert Finney, Orson Welles, Peter Ustinov, John Malkovich, and Kenneth Branagh to name a few. All of these men are great actors in there own right but, David Suchet's portrayal of Hercule Poirot is widely considered the most definitive performance of the eccentric detective. If you like a good detective story with great characters, check out the novels or watch some of the movies and television shows telling the stories of Hercule Poirot. While this figure does not look exactly like any of the actors that played Hercule Poirot, there is a nice resemblance to the character. please note - the custom derby hat looks a little rough around the inside (see pic) but still displays well. sold as is. stand included.
