Description: Well, here's something you don't see every day... Henry Wilkinson (H.W. & Co.) was absorbed into another company in 1892. So, either the other company kept the name for some of its products, or this is from the 1890s. Cobalt blue bowl in a three-footed, silver-plated holder with a stippled pattern around the outside. The marks on the bottom of the holder are interesting:The "6217" appears (to my admittedly imperfect knowledge) to be a catalogue number; as far as I can determine, it has nothing to do with the composition of the metal. The row of five symbols are:The shield with "H W & Co." (the maker's mark)"M" (no idea)"S" (ditto)"EP" (indicates electro-plate)Two crossed keys (presumably the company's logo) I have no idea what the F.E on the third line means. The Google let me down! :-( Excellent condition (it was in a collection, not in daily use). Collectors, please note: We are selling off an amazing, enormous private collection of salts that belonged to a relative of ours. These are nearly all in excellent to perfect condition, with many rarities. It will take awhile to get them all listed, as each of them is individually and accurately described, so please check back often. See photos. Non-smoking, pet-free home. Shipped via first-class or priority mail; choose which one you prefer at checkout. Please note that we will be happy to combine shipping on all orders of more than one item. (DV373374) Happy collecting!
