He will be busy from morning till evening. Often, when night comes, he will find that though he has labored he has NOT done ‘all his work.’ “None the less, if he is a real man, he may like to have some kind of a friendly word at the end or the beginning of a working day, to remind him of what his work means and to suggest to him why it is worth while to keep on doing it. “But the message must be short, else it will be more of a burden than a help to a working day. That is why these papers are so brief and incomplete,—mere fragments and suggestions. “On Sundays there is, or ought to be, time for longer considerations and reflections. But Sundays are not included in the calendar. These are only notes for the other days.” —HENRY VAN DYKE, FROM THE PREFACE • • For other details about this book, please see below. • TITLE: “SIX DAYS OF THE WEEK: A Book of Thoughts about Life and Religion” AUTHOR: HENRY VAN DYKE TYPE: HARDCOVER PUBLISHER, LOCALE, & YEAR: Charles Scribner’s Sons (New York / London), 1924 EDITION: Presumed First Edition, First Printing* *RE: Publication year (1924) matches on both the Title & Copyright Pages. The condition of every item we sell will be described in detail.FLAWS. All discernible flaws will be noted, if not emphasized. Of course, the grading of condition can be subjective. Should we make a mistake, you will find FLAPPINCAT eager to fix things with you. Just send us a note and we’ll get on it.GRADING SYSTEM. For books and magazines (and even other items), we use these terms (in order of desirability): VERY FINE or LIKE NEW FINE (or EXCELLENT) NEAR FINE (or NF) VERY GOOD PLUS (or VG+) VERY GOOD (or VG) GOOD FAIR ACCEPTABLE POOR “POOR.” Except in rare cases, for rare items, we tend to avoid selling items that are in utterly “POOR” condition.
