Description: This listing is for the - KK4HXJ - V Series test probe kit This kit includes the hardware and wire needed to build a set of test probes for Heathkit Vacuum Tube Volt Meters (VTVM's) requiring 3 Leads (V-4/5/6/7 and A Models as well as the IM-32) and many others that use a 1/4" phone style meter connection for DC and Banana Plugs for the Ground/Common and AC/Ohms Leads. One probe is for DC Measurement (with the resistor installed) and the other probe is for AC/Ohms Measurement, and a 3rd lead is the ground lead and has an Alligator Clip. Included in this version of the kit (many of which are hard to source economically): 1 Pair of Test Lead Probes - 1 Red/1 Black 1 1/4" Mono Phone Plug w/Metal Housing and Clear Heat Shrink Sleeve 1 1Meg Ohm 1 Watt Resistor 1 Alligator Clip & Heat Shrink Tubing 2 Laminated Self Adhesive Probe Labels and Clear Heat Shrink Tubing to cover the probe labels, resulting in a professional and durable setup (see photos) 1 36" length of RG174 Coaxial Wire for DC Lead (Very Flexible - makes a great test lead) 1 36" Length of 18 Gauge Black Rubber Test Lead Wire (PowerWerx brand Very Flexible - High Quality) for the Ground Lead 1 36" Length of 18 Gauge Red Rubber Test Lead Wire (PowerWerx brand Very Flexible - High Quality) for the AC/Ohms Lead 1 Each Red/Black Silicone Banana Plugs The instructions are supplied as a .PDF document - I will email you a copy of my instruction Sheet to the email address which is provided in the paypal transaction The original instructions specify shielded cable for the DC lead, the original supplied wire was a coaxial microphone style wire, many people use either standard (unshielded) test probe wire for the leads or a shielded coaxial cable, I Supply a 36" piece of black RG174 for the DC lead, a 36" piece of Red test probe wire for the AC/Ohms lead and a 36" piece of black test probe wire for the ground I Use these probes on my Heathkit V-7A meter with excellent results, and these meters are indespensible for working on Vintage Radio Gear (And I prefer them to my more modern FET meters for this type of work) This kit can also be used to assemble probes for the Knight KG-620 with the addition of a Switchcraft 2501F Connector (available in my store) See my store for other versions of the kit to fit the single 1/4" plug meters like the IM-11/13/18/28/5218/5228 etc. Attached is a photo of a completed set of test probes using this kit.
