Description: Vintage Hand Painted Pottery Colorful French Quimper Large Soup Cupp with Handle Marked HR Quimper For Your Quimper Pottery Collection-HBQuimperSoupCup1 Details Description: A nice old pottery large size cup from France. The cup, which is marked HR Quimper, is fairly large and round. It has an applied handle that is green in color. The cup has a round footed base with ribbed side that is hand decorated with the typical painting of the framer woman standing with a butterfly near her hand and a tree behind her and a bush in front of her. The rest of the exterior of the cup is decorated with flowers and plants and the decoration is bordered with a nice blue line on top and on bottom near the rim and the base. The handle is green in color and has a classic shape. The inside of the cup is off-white in color while the bottom is white in color and unmarked. The cup is marked HR QUIMPER below the handle on the side of the cup. The cup has greens, blues, orange, yellow, and red all on a white background. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Unknown but most likely early to mid 1900s or could be earlier. Origin: France Size: The cup measures ~4 1/2" in dimeter on top and ~2 5/8" in diameter at the base. The cuo is ~2 5/8" high. The cup weighs over 7 ounces. Maker: HR Quimper in France Marks: Marked "HR Quimper" in blue colored print calligraphy below the handle (see last photo for details). Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no breaks, cracks, chips, crazing to the glaze, or repairs. Other than that, the piece is in great shape. The colors are vivid and fresh, just very beautiful. As usual for these pieces there is a spot or two which minor errors which happen during the making, such as slubs, pops and spots where the glaze did not fully flow. There is also a few small scratches here and there where the coloring is lost. Finally, the foot of the base is soiled as can be seen in the photos.
