The following actions are typical of what we did to restore these beauties for you. These are not just wall hangers. They all play with a full range of vintage tones. Questions welcome. Common Repair Actions Bodies cleaned, touched up and polished Necks checked and adjusted for straightness, fingerboards treated and frets leveled and polished w/0000 steel wool All electronics cleaned and tested with required wiring repairs or replacement All guitars set up for lowest possible action Every note is played in order to find high frets, dead notes and fret buzz and hopefully eliminating them. US Flag Ibanez GIO This 2008 Ibanez GIO guitar was in decent shape with a few scrapes and scuffs on two edges on the back. The neck was in great shape complete with standard fare Ibanez supplied tuners. The frets and fingerboard are in good shape. One of the pickups was disconnected and the wiring needed some serious work. The front had some dings and scratches which begged for a hand painted antique US flag. Body front was patched and sanded. Scuffs on back were patched and clear coated and whole body polished. US flag was hand painted on front. Antiquing and distressed finish applied. Wiring was revisited, repaired and solder refreshed. Electronics were cleaned. Neck was cleaned and frets polished. Frets were leveled and all notes were played to detect and eliminate any buzz. New set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009-.042) strings installed. Stars and Stripes LP Junior This Aspen LP Junior style guitar was a partially stripped body and neck with some hardware and tuners. The pickup was missing and the wiring needed some serious work. The front had some dings and scratches which begged for a hand painted antique US flag. Body front was patched and sanded US flag was hand painted on front. Wiring was reviewed and modified to enable "coil splitting" toggle switch to work properly. Faulty output jack was replaced. Electronics were cleaned. New Alnico V 4-wire humbucker pickup installed. Neck was cleaned and frets polished. Frets were leveled and all notes were played to detect and eliminate any buzz. New set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009-.042) strings installed. Union Jack Double Cut This Double Cutaway was an empty body and neck. Everything needed patching and paint. Perfect candidate for a flag front. It had a cool 3x3 headstock shape which refinished nicely, but turned out to be bowed beyond correction. Truss Rod tried, but couldn't get there. Below is a list of actions taken to return this classic to its Old or New Glory and playability. Body was patched and sanded Body and headstock finished in True Navy color. Union Jack flag was hand-painted on body front and antiqued. Bowed neck was replaced with vintage relic'd maple Hondo S-style neck, which was cleaned and frets polished with 0000 steel wool. A 4-wire Alnico V humbucker bridge pickup was installed with a new frame. Black 6 screw tremolo bridge installed. Guitar wired with shielded wire and with full size 1V1T pots and new .022uf cap. Coil Splitting mini toggle switch installed 2 gold speed knobs installed Missing cover plates were replaced Neck and body were joined with standard Strat neckplate and new right-sized chrome screws. Vintage semi-sealed tuners installed Neck shim installed for lower action New set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009--.042) strings installed Union Jack SG Below is a list of actions taken to return this classic to its Old or New Glory and playability. The body had some significant dings and dents and was begging for a flag front refinish.The Epiphone pickups we open and were replaced with Alnico V 4 wire humbuckers. The wiring was redone from scratch with shielded cable.Body front was patched and sanded.Gray tone Union Jack flag was hand painted on front and open pore clear coated. Feel the flag.Compatible neck was purchased and mated with body with suitable neckplate and screwsWiring was redone and modified to enable "coil splitting" via a push pull tone control.2 new speed knobs installed2 New Alnico V 4-wire humbucker pickups installed.Neck was cleaned and frets polished. Frets were leveled and all notes were played to detect and eliminate any buzz. Truss rod adjusted for proper relief.Intonation checked and adjustedNew set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009-.042) strings installed.
