Description: (AT-5C)While it would clearly seem to have come from his desk, I highly question whether it was actually Mabie who put the pen to paper with his signature and that it was likely “IK” who signed it on his behalf. Most of his actual signatures seem to be "Hamilton W. Mabie" (not HW Mabie) and even the few that I have seen that are "HW", they are very similar but not quite exactly the same. Either way, a very interesting (and old) document (interesting content) from a very well known essayist, etc. The gentleman who submitted the poems, Walter Bennett, was a clergyman, and fairly prodigious letter writer (I have others, also listed) and writer (don't believe anything of note). I have little to no doubt as to the authenticity of the letter itself. This will ship in a padded envelope with cardboard stiffeners.Yes, I will combine ship the purchase of multiple items. If you do buy something else, don’t pay. Wait for me to send you an invoice with the combined (presumably reduced) shipping costs for all items.NOTE!!! CHECK THE SHIPPING COSTS!!! I oversize/overpack just about everything and will be doing so again here to avoid any damage during shipment. It’s worth the extra couple $.NOTE!!! Any easels, propping devices, rulers, etc shown in the photos are for displaying the item and are NOT included with the item. NOTE!!! In general, I have cleaned the item very lightly for any bulk surface dust, dirt, etc. I have NOT deep cleaned it and will not be doing so here. I am often dealing with antique/vintage/delicate items and am very reluctant (aka DON’T) do any deep cleaning for fear of affecting, damaging, removing paint/patina, etc from the item. The item is as shown in the photos.
