(The Original Broadway production opened March 31st, 1943 at the St. James Theatre in New York City and ran for 2212 performances.) ..... The musical starred GORDON MacRAE as "Curly", the role he played in the 1955 motion picture and featured JOLEEN FODOR, PETER CONLOW, DANIEL P. HANNAFIN, CAROLYN KEMP, JEAN SINCERE, RICHARD MILLER, CAROLE BISHOP, JANET SUMNER, DENNIS COLE and ARNOLD SOBOLOFF ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS.
