Description: HUM 284 "Little Goat Herder" - TMK-6 Diameter 7.625" This is the Eighteenth Edition of the Annual plate series that was produced between 1971 and 1995. A total of 25 plates, one each year was made. 1971 was the 100th Anniversary of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik. The annual plate series was issued in commemoration of that occasion. At the end of the year of each release, all molds were destroyed. Like every charming "M.I. Hummel" collectible, the bas-relief plates are created completely by hand. Each plate measures 7.5" in diameter (this one is slightly larger), has the "M.I. Hummel" signature, and has a special inscription on the back affixed by blue decal. Each plate has the year, number in series, Hummel Number and trademark. This one is labeled "NOT TO BE USED FOR FOOD W. GOEBEL PORZELLANFABRIK HAND PAINTED M.I. HUMMEL 18th ANNUAL PLATE 1988 RODENTAL, WEST GERMANY Hum 284 TMK-6 1984". The original issue price was $145 in 1988. The annual plates are all closed editions. Oversized - Hummel plate exceeds the catalog's listed width of 7.5" by an eighth of an inch, measuring about 7.625" in diameter. Eighteenth Edition in a series of 25 Anniversary Plates produced between 1971-1995. (1988) Limited Production - Quantities produced were limited to one year of production and all molds were destroyed at the end of the year. Has original White "Goebel Collectors' Club" Pamphlet included. Has Goebel Survey Card included. Closed Edition. (CE) Comes with the above referenced Goebel Pamphlet and Card plus original box with inner plastic plate holder. The styrofoam protector is missing from the box, hence the "New Open Box" designation instead of "New." Additionally, the box flaps on one side are torn, as you can see in the pictures.
