Description: Matching footed spooner and celery vase by Brilliant/Greensburg Glass Company in their pattern from 1888 called Melrose, which is a band of large diamonds with 16 diamonds inside each, then a band above of raised dots with a star in each dot. The plain band above that ends with a solid rim. The celery vase measures 4 1/8" diameter X 6 1/8" tall. The spooner measures 4" diameter X 4 3/8" tall. Note that the footed base has a star pattern in the bottom of one, but not the other. Very interesting.CONDITION: Good vintage condition. The spooner has some scuffing in the clear band part and a strong annealing line in the bottom and glass overage at the mold line on the footed base. The celery has an ash mark in the clear band. Glass is clear in both pieces.Check out our store and follow us to see more vintage finds! The Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) process often resulted in items with air bubbles, ash within the glass, annealing and settling lines, and glass overage rim roughness. We consider these flaws “character” rather than actual problems, such as breaks, chips, cracks, flea bites and the like. We thoroughly describe all real issues and attempt to mention the most obviously seen “character” bubbles and lines.
