Description: SUPER SALE &FREE USA SHIPPING! This is another early G&L L1000 from my own personal collection. Transparent blue has always been a rare and desirable color and it's hard to find them any cleaner than this! Yes, there are a few scuffs and dings but NO finish checking on either the body or neck. The finish is over a beautiful quarter-sawn swamp ash body with spectacular grain patterns. The bass has been played lovingly and stored dry & smoke free for the past 30 years. The control plate, bridge base and neck plate are all finished in the crinkle black coating which is correct for the period and 1983 was the first year it was introduced. The pickup has the small allen key pole pieces and there is some oxidation on the pole pieces but they all turn freely. The knobs are in great shape with just some minor chrome flaking in spots. The maple neck & fretboard are very clean with frets that show hardly any signs of wear. Part of that is due to the nylon tape-wound strings which came with the bass and are still going strong more than a quarter century later. The tuners are nickel and have a nice age patina. As with all the early G&L basses I still have left from my original collection of 61, this one plays and sounds special. But it's time for retirement and my wife would rather have a home than a storage place. The pots date the 6th week of 1983. The neck is stamped '2 23 83' and the body is stamped 'NOV 2x (year not visible under the blue finish). I believe the neck is from 1982 but there's no doubt this is an original factory 1983 G&L indicated by the matching 'footprints' in the cavity and on the neck heel. That's part of the fun in taking basses apart to date & authenticate them! The bass weighs in at 10 lbs and includes the original case with the fuzzy brown lining. All the latches, hinges & handle are still in fine shape. I'll also be listing my trans blue L2000 in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for that one! FREE USA SHIPPING (to the Lower 48) and a 30-day return privilege if you are not satisfied for any reason. NO shipping to Alaska & Hawaii. The Bass Palace will be listing a few more choice G&L basses from The Swami's Hoard this month & next along with the 'usual' selection of assorted beauties & misfits so check back often!
