Description: On 9 August 1980 to mark the 1300 anniversary of St Boniface of Crediton and also the 80th birthday of H M Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the Borough of Crediton in Devon organised a balloon post. As part of this, the Vicar of Crediton was due to ascend in a hot air balloon from a park in the middle of the town. High winds prevented the balloon from taking off. The stamps and covers which had been produced for this event were nevertheless put together and posted. The attractive 25p balloon post stamp is shown in the scan. They were printed by the House of Questa and perf 14. Unmounted mint. If you are buying more than 1 item, please request total as I will combine postage.
