Description: Listed for auction is a commemorative aviation cover signed by aviation pioneer Freddie Lund and his wife Betty Lund. Frederick ''Freddie'' Lund [1897 1931] was an aviation pioneer, barnstormer, stunt pilot and World War I pilot. Lund served during World War I with the 4th Pursuit Squadron in combat in France. After the war he became one of the most famous stunt pilots of the era. He also served as a test pilot and was the World Aerobatic Champion in 1930. Sadly, on October 3, 1931, while performing at an air show in Lexington, Kentucky, he was killed while performing a stunt. Betty Lund [1906 ?] wife of Freddie was also a stunt pilot and air racer of the 1930's. During World War II she served in the W.A.F. Listed for auction is a commemorative aviation cover signed by Freddie Lund and Bettie Lund. The cover commemorates the First Air Mail Flight, Greenburg, PA, Sept 1929, and is signed ''Freddie Lund, ''Bettie Lund'' in blue fountain pen. The cover is postmarked Youngstown, Ohio Sep 21, 1929, and affixed with one U.S. airmail stamp. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.75 inches with trivial toning/edge wear otherwise in very good condition. The autograph of Freddie Lund is quite rare, the autographs are authentic and will be a desirable addition to any aviation collection.
