Description: "The Champion" is a limited edition fine art print from the original watercolor painting by artist Michael Irvine. It is from an edition of only 800 prints, individually hand signed and numbered by the artist. The print is truly beautiful, and is filled with the detail, vibrant color and reflections that artist's work is known for. The image measures 26" x 16" and is printed on high-quality acid-free stock measuring 30" x 21". As a full line dealer for the artist, prints have been stored flat and have never been framed. The print comes with a signed & numbered Certificate of Authenticity from the artist. If you look in the quarter panel of the red #16 car, in the reflection, you can see Parnelli Jones on the podium accepting the Manufacturer's Cup Trophy for Ford. Trans-Am was a highly competitive, no-holds-barred, flat-out, fender-bending racing series. These were some of the best American drivers, taking on the toughest American circuits. In 1969, Ford brought famed NASCAR engineer Bud Moore, along with drivers Parnelli Jones and George Follmer, on board to spearhead the Boss 302 Team. Race car driver/builder Carroll Shelby also joined the action with his Boss 302, driven by Peter Revson. 1970 would prove to be the greatest year in Trans-Am history. Winning five races, Parnelli Jones took victory at Riverside Raceway - securing the manufacturer's championship for Ford. In this painting, Michael pays tribute to the powerful Boss 302 and the men that made racing history.
