Mug has applied base and top border as well as hollow scroll handle. Made by James Bogert (Newburgh, NY c. 1845-1850) for Ball, Tompkins & Black (successors to Marquand & Co.), NYC. This splendid mug is 3 1/2" tall, 3 1/8" in diameter, 4 1/2" across the handle and weighs 169.2 grams or 5.5 ozs Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
